IEA

Interscholastic Equestrian Association

In 2000, the founders gathered and developed the IEA concept: to promote and provide equestrian athletic competition among middle and high school students. Together, and with the assistance of thousands of equestrians, parents, families, friends and sponsors, the IEA has grown into a national organization. Since its start in 2002 with 175 riders on 13 teams, the IEA now has over 13,500 members with over 1,200 teams in 46 states.

Riders not only compete for individual points, but also team points. The format adds team camaraderie to a normally individual sport. Competing this way allows for serious athletes to not only prepare for a collegiate future in equestrian sports, but also the opportunity for scholarships.
